Tarn Taran | Punjab | Travel

Tarn Taran Sahib is a historically significant city and the administrative headquarters of the Tarn Taran district in the Majha region of Punjab, India. Founded in 1590 by the fifth Sikh Guru, Guru Arjan Dev Ji, Tarn Taran Sahib serves as a major hub of Sikh culture, heritage, and pilgrimage. Tarn Taran Sahib shares an international border with Pakistan to the west and is characterized by a heavily agrarian economy. Sri Darbar Sahib Tarn Taran is the focal point of the city, built by Guru Arjan Dev Ji. It features a gold-plated replica architecture of the Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple) and holds the distinction of having the largest sarovar (holy tank) in the world.
