Girivalam in Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu is a holy pilgrimage where devotees walk barefoot around Mount Arunachala (about 14 km) on full moon days. Thiruvannamalai is considered an Agni Sthalam, and it is believed that performing Girivalam washes away sins and increases mental energy. There are 8 Ashtalingas on the Girivalam path around the Arunachaleswarar temple.
