Gulmarg | Jammu and Kashmir | Travel Attractions

Gulmarg which translates to the "Meadow of Flowers" is a world-renowned hill station in the Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir. Situated at an altitude of approximately 2,650 metres (8,690 ft) in the Pir Panjal Range of the Western Himalayas, Gulmarg is famous as the "heartland of winter sports in India". The Gulmarg Gondola is one of the world's highest and longest cable cars. It operates in two main phases. In Phase 1, it travels from Gulmarg to Kongdori Station (8,530 ft). In Phase 2, it travels from Kongdori to Apharwat Peak (12,293 ft), offering views of Nanga Parbat and the Line of Control (LOC). Gulmarg is roughly 50–60 km from Srinagar (about a 1.5 to 2-hour drive).
